The Wyalusing Valley Wine Festival is a benefit to raise funds for the Wyalusing Valley Museum and its event partners, the Wyalusing Lions Club. Donations to the Wine Festival will go towards the cost of putting on the festival, allowing a larger portion of the proceeds to benefit these not-for-profit organizations.
The Wyalusing Valley Museum preserves and exhibits the history of the communities within the geographic range of the Wyalusing Area School District. Our collection ranges from stone tools of the Native Americans who lived along the Susquehanna to the tools and products of local businesses of the 20th century. Photographs of buildings, people, and events from the 1860s to the present offer a fascinating glimpse of how our community has changed over the years. The museum not only provides exhibits for visitors to view, but also outreach programs to local school children, community clubs, and scout organizations. The funds raised by the Wyalusing Valley Wine Festival provide a significant portion of the museum’s annual budget.
The Wyalusing Lions Club is part of the Lions Clubs International, which supports various health programs focusing on vision correction, diabetes, and hearing loss. The Wyalusing chapter contributes funding to more than a dozen local and national service organizations, as well as sending donations to local fire victims and residents with catastrophic illness or need. Each holiday season the Wyalusing chapter provides support for People Helping People. Because of their interest in our youth, they are sponsors of the Wyalusing Leo Club which has grown to be one of the most active youth volunteer organizations in our area. These civic organizations promote local volunteerism and environmental awareness.
